There are many forms of anxiety: Generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, specific phobias, post-traumatic stress disorder, social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and specific phobias. Separation anxiety disorder is when you become anxious when you are away from your home, family, friends, or people who have become a part of your life. This causes problems not only mentally but physically as well, and leaves you with numerous physical symptoms such as heart palpitations, fatigue, diarrhea, blushing, and muscle aches. Other common causes of separation anxiety disorder include moving away from traumatic events in your life, a death of a loved one, or divorce.

Post-traumatic stress disorder is another common type of anxiety disorders, and this occurs when you experience extreme fear resulting from exposure to things like violence, terrorism, and abuse. PTSD usually affects individuals who experienced life events that left them scarred or impacted their lives in a negative way. Common post-traumatic stress disorders include: Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Anxiety with agoraphobia (ADD & ADHD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and Specific Phobia. Having any one or more of these symptoms means that you suffer from a form of psychological stress and anxiety. Sometimes these fears can be so severe that they interfere with your life to the point where you barely get through each day.

Finally, you may feel anxious because you are different types of people. There are many different types of personality, and everyone has their own set of characteristics that make them unique. If you are a person with gregariousness and often do things and socialize in an outgoing manner, then you are a very outgoing person. If, however, you tend to keep to yourself, hide your feelings, become reclusive, and are often considered introverted, then you probably have an anxiety disorder that involves self-isolation and avoidance behaviors.

You may also experience different types of anxiety disorders depending on your responses to situations. If, for instance, you get nervous when asked to speak before an audience, you may have General Anxiety Disorder. On the other hand, if you get extremely anxious when you have to give a speech before a crowd, then you may have Phobia. Other symptoms you may encounter include: Agoraphobics (people who are afraid to leave the house), Specific Phobia (fear of things like spiders and snakes) and Panic Disorder. If you experience any of these symptoms, you should consult a psychologist to find out if you really have an anxiety problem. Many people who are shy and/or introverted actually don’t have this problem, so don’t rule it out.
